Queen Victoria was born in 1819, and in 1837, at age 18, she was crowned Queen and reigned for 63 years, 7 months and 2 days. Victoria died on the 22nd of January, 1901.
Victoria was an important Queen. Presiding over the growth of the British Empire and created a new role for the monarchy. Victoria also oversaw the abolition of slavery and advances in education and industrialism.
In 1877 she was proclaimed ‘The Empress Of India’, a title that linked India more closely with Britain.
