Red Squirrels are rare now in the UK they only inhabit areas with no grey squirrels. In fact, there are now only ten areas left where you have a chance of seeing a red squirrel.
The larger Grey Squirrel is far more common and is found in most areas, with an estimated 2.5 million in the UK.
These wonderful creatures inhabit coniferous wood. They love to eat hazelnuts, and pine cones and are known to raid bird feeders for peanuts.
